Q: What are my "dues" going to?

A: Meeting fees of $5/meeting are for the chapter to keep and use for the purpose of growing the chapter or enhancing the business of all chapter members.  Annual dues of $249 go to Team Women's headquarters and are for the following:

  1. Exclusive representation of your core profession in your Team Women Chapter. The ability to visit any other chapters which have an opening for your core profession.
  2. Individual photo, bio, website link on the Team Women International site.
  3. Policy and procedures and guidelines in place  to create and grow strong chapters  with good attendance from members
  4. Logo pens, referral slips, applications and Team Women brochures and flyers for marketing your chapter and recruiting new members
  5. Administrative support for running Team Women (marketing, supplies maintenance and shipping, membership tracking, etc.)
  6. Complete Team Women Membership Kit which includes:
  • Zippered padfolio debossed with Team Women logo which contains a calculator, notepad, pocket memo pad, pockets for PDA or cell phone, business cards, thumb drives and USB ports.
  • Debossed Team Women Business Card Holder
  • Team Women Pens
  • Team Women Name Badge

Q: Why is joining Team Women better than starting a referral group of women on my own?

A: Team Women has been in operation for several years and has undergone a restructuring and "tightening up" after seeing what works and doesn't work for the success of chapters and the women in them.  There are several chapters that have been running smoothly since the organization began and those are the chapters on whom the others are modeled.  The Team Women handbook provides a structure and also gives the officers support for following the guidelines and therefore building the businesses of the chapter members. There is also the national and international exposure  for your business.  TeamWomen.com received 30,000 hits in February alone!

April Showers Bring May Flowers , Team Women!

And in our businesses, proactive steps we take this month to grow our businesses often show up in 90 days! When we focus on dedicating a certain time every day to income producing activities – then income will inevitably show up down the line.

In March, I attended Team Women Informational meetings on both Maui and Hawaii. Team Women Maui is having their kick off meeting in the beginning of April! From Hawaii I traveled to the launch meetings in Atlanta, GA and Madison, WI (see below) and had a blast.

The new Team Women International Offices are scheduled to open sometime late April or early May and we will be having a grand opening celebration. Everyone is welcome to attend and bring guests who are interested in joining the TEAM! There is a big US Map and a World Map on the wall and I am looking for cute head shots of Team Women Members to post in the margins! Please send a photo of you to include on the map if you want to be part of the excitement!

For all of you who have been asking about the 3rd Annual Team Women Cruise, Dana Turner of the Santa Clarita Chapter is working with me to set it up and everyone is invited. Stay tuned for more details and be looking forward to a sail date in the fall.

We are going to be opening our first International Chapter in Panama City, Panama in January. We are planning a “Party in Panama City” trip to welcome them to the Team Women Family. The trip will be in January to coincide with their first meeting and we will be sending out the proposed itinerary in a few weeks. It will be a blast and you are invited to bring your family and friends along on our first international Team Trip.

This month, I will be traveling to Scottsdale, AZ for a Team Women Information Meeting. We have had a great response to the notices sent out to business women in the area. Please pass this newsletter or my email address on to any one you know there and keep in mind, we are still looking for a Founding President!

The new member recruiting contest was so popular in March we are carrying it over to April! Team Women Santa Barbara won the Business in a Bag by having five new members join in March. See the details below…

Cheers,
Judi Finneran

Holli Beam, Founding President of the Team Women, Solano County Chapter, Northern California is co-owner of Cal Bay Construction, which specializes in all types of roofing applications.  For the past 15 years, she and her team of twenty have marketed to the greater Bay area and installed approximately 30 roofs per month.  She credits Cal Bay's success to partnerships with trusted long term vendors and dedicated employees. She is also thankful for Team Women and the women in her Chapter.  It is a joy and blessing to work with such amazing and knowledgeable women!

Holli sees this an especially exciting time to be in her industry with the growing demand for solar alternatives.  To add greater value to their new and existing customers, Cal Bay Construction has recently teamed with Bay Building Roofing & Supply (Holli's independent company) to offer "go green" products.  This has been a very popular niche-so much so that they may soon market and distribute their products to other contractors and suppliers nationwide!

Before moving to the San Francisco Bay area in 1993, Holli managed bank branches throughout Indianapolis, Indiana.  Always open for change and growth, she left the banking industry after 10 years of service to embark upon a very succesful career in sales and marketing.  It is her belief that each of these career choices have helped to make her a more well rounded and compassionate business person.

Holli and her husband, Gene, reside in Green Valley with their puppy Sam.  Her hobbies include running, weightlifting, reading, and golfing.

"The fastest way to change society is to mobilize the WOMEN of the world." -
Charles Malik, Former President of the United Nations General Assembly

Team Women is based on building powerful relationships with other business women to create long term success for both.  Getting to know each other better fosters a closer relationship which generates more referrals.  We found on the past Team Women Cruises how much fun it is to meet and build relationships with Team Women members from other areas.

August 2008 - Palm Desert, CA:  Spa Weekend - 3 days and 2 nights at the Palm Desert Marriott.  Wonderful pool, great spa and lots of shopping nearby.  More details coming soon.

October 2008 - Mexican Riviera:  Third annual Team Women Cruise!  Stay tuned for more details.

January 16-25, 2009 Team Women Panama:  Help welcome our first International Chapter to the Team Women Family and attend the launch meeting.   10 days and nine nights, including a visit with the Panamanian First Lady!

Contact support@teamwomen.com if you would like more information about any of our exciting travel events.

Team Women Book
DEADLINE EXTENDED...DEADLINE EXTENDED...DEADLINE EXTENDED

We have received some fabulous submissions to the Team Women Book, but do we still need one from you? All Team Women members are invited to participate in our 1st Team Women book, tentatively titled, "Team Women - Successful Business Women, Supporting Women In Business."

This is an opportunity to share your expertise with the public and become a published author.  If you're interested in participating, simply create a title and outline for your proposed submission and send it to kristen@teamwomen.com by Friday, April 25 th.  DO NOT SEND YOUR ACTUAL ARTICLE UNLESS REQUESTED.  Important Notes - Please read before submitting:

  • Topics should be of interest to women in business.
  • Not all submissions will be accepted for publication - Team Women reserves the right to edit your submission for clarity, style, and grammar.  You may be asked to revise the content or structure of your submission to fit with the organization/content of the book. More details regarding the editorial process will be provided to everyone whose submission is selected for the book.
  • If chosen, your article will be limited to 750 words, so keep that in mind when creating your outline.
  • If chosen, you may be required to pre-pay for 10 copies of the book at $15 each when you submit your final draft of your article.  Upon publication, you will receive your copies and can distribute them or re-sell them at a price set by you.  You will have the opportunity to purchase additional copies at a price to be determined (not to exceed $15 each.)
  • Approximate publication date will be Fall 2008.

Please contact Kristen (kristen@teamwomen.com) with any questions.  We look forward to your participation in this exciting new venture.

Last month's calls were amazing - thank you so much to Mindy Selinger and Michelle Bergquist for phenomenal calls!

A recording of Mindy's will be available in the member's only area of the Team Women website later this week. Due to a recording glitch, a recording of Michelle's call is not available. We will be rescheduling her for another call later this Spring so those of you who missed her the first time can have the benefit of her expertise!

Have a great idea for a call/training? Email it to support@teamwomen.com.

Be on the lookout for events and expos that might be a good place to talk to potential new chapter members! Team Women pays for several booths each month across the country to help chapters grow! Team Women will always provide brochures, business cards, and a raffle prize (if needed). When possible, we will loan out the banners/tablecloths, but each chapter is encouraged to purchase their own.

Team Women Huntington Beach recently participated in OC's Largest Mixer and received the following note and photo from the organizers:

"Thank you so much for your participation at Orange County's Largest Mixer V. With over 3000 business people in attendance, this event was by far our most successful ever.  We sincerely thank you for your support!

Attached, please find a photo that was taken of your display.  By Friday, March 28, you will receive a list of attendees from business cards that we collected via email.

Please enjoy the photo and once again, thank you for your participation."

Congratulations, TW Huntington Beach, on all those great contacts
and be sure do your follow-up calls, ladies!

Have an event coming up in your area where you'd like to have a Team Women booth? Contact support@teamwomen.com with the details.

Each month I will be sharing a Business Building Block. Great buildings and businesses are built one brick at a time.

Building a Solid Foundation for Your Business – Planting the Seeds of Success!

This time I year I love driving along the highway and seeing all of the wild flowers blooming. Freeway Flowers are what I have always called them. It is almost magical how they seemingly appear over night out of nowhere. The phenomenon is similar to the expression “overnight success.”

In business I often hear people share how some customer or piece of business came to them “out of the blue.” I like to remind them there really is no “out of the blue.”

Flowers and incoming business are almost always the result of planting seeds. In order for flowers or your business to grow we need to plant seeds. In business to be most successful we need to be planting seeds every day. And like flowers, have the patience to know they take time to germinate, then sprout, grow and finally blossom.

What I mean by planting business seeds is doing “income producing activities” every day. Some examples would be:

-attending a networking event (go Team Women!)

-following up with a prospect

-calling a past customer and asking for a referral

-placing calls to potential new customers

-delivering your product or service

Often in business, there are so many things to do and try to grow our business we can get overwhelmed and end up doing nothing; what I refer to as the deer in the headlights syndrome.” One of my past coaching clients, a realtor, knew she had reached this point when she chose to patch holes in the cement sidewalk in front of her house. For me personally, it is when I am adding new Incredimail backgrounds to my email program.

An important step is creating a strong foundation and creating the habit of doing income producing activities every day is a great beginning. Put this into your calendar and then do it. Some people call it the Power Hour and that is great. But even if you start with a Focused 5 Minutes or Terrific 10 Minutes; just begin.

In business I have always believed the effort you invest today, provides a return in 90 days. It is not in most cases instantaneous. When something comes seemingly “out of the blue” it normally comes from action taken in the past. Business like every thing else is energy and energy out equal energy in and not necessarily in the same format. For example you call a customer and ask for a referral (energy out) and you then get an order from someone you have never met (energy in.) They aren’t related by the step you took but by the energy you invested.

Stop right now and write down one income producing activity you will do tomorrow and decide on a time to do it. Now, write it down in your calendar in INK and tomorrow – do it. You will feel great when it is done and you will know you have planted a seed.

"How am I going to live today in order to create the tomorrow I'm
committed to?" - Anthony Robbins

Please make sure that Team Women always has your current personal information, such as address, email, website etc. It is very important that we can keep our records current.  Help us spread the news by forwarding this e-zine to your networking friends. Thank you for your continued support!
