Q: Can I get the $25 referral reward if the 3 people I refer to Team Women join chapters other than mine?

A: The referral credit is good for anyone that you refer to ANY chapter of Team Women. Isn’t that great? Tell all your girlfriends, sisters, cousins, and neighbors!!!

Keep track of the members that you refer and then complete the "I've Referred" form to claim your “thank you” gift from Team Women for every three.

Q: What are my obligations once I join Team Women?

A: Team Women is an annual membership and again, due to the emphasis on relationship building, attendance is mandatory.  Members need to show up and be on time.  Absences for immediate family or personal health reasons are excused, as are absences for business or personal travel, or jury duty.  After 3 unexcused absences, membership can be terminated.  There are no obligatory referrals or leads to be passed - although the purpose of the group is to build member businesses with qualified, "warm" leads.

Taking Care of Business, Team Women!

April was another record month for Team Women and I would like to welcome the NINE new chapters and 57 new members who have joined the TEAM. We appreciate your choosing to have Team Women support you in growing the business of your dreams.

And like the Office Depot commercial, taking care of business is the goal of Team Women. You will make great friends, build wonderful relationships, gain business knowledge and receive support from other chapter members. However, the purpose of Team Women is to provide highly qualified referrals to you to build your business.

May is going to be very exciting with chapters opening in Arizona, Massachusetts and Connecticut. I am being interviewed on "AM Arizona" on May 7th and "Better Connecticut" on May 21st. All of this will help to create greater awareness of Team Women and help all of our chapters across the county to grow.

I would like to thank the members of the Seminole County and Orange County (pictured below) Chapters in the Orlando, FL area. Traveling to central Florida for the first time was a blast! I worked a booth at a women’s event for a full day, had lunch with the members of both chapters the next day and then attended a combo meeting of both chapters that evening!

Following Florida, I was off to Denver for the kick off of Team Women Denver (pictured below) and was taken out to dinner by the Founding President, Letty (pictured at left) and her husband John.

.

Building relationships is a very important piece of creating long term success in your business. It is important to stay in touch on a regular basis with all of our customers, clients and prospects. Contact without asking them to buy something pays off more in the long run.

To reward our new members in May for "taking care of business," we will be including a $5.00 gift card to Office Depot in every new member kit.

And finally, big congrats to Team Women Seminole for earning the prize for having 10 new members in one month! Way to go Florida!!!

Cheers,
Judi Finneran

Nicol Akins is a wife and working mother of two. Despite her marathon schedule, she has never thrown in the towel for her passion of running or anything athletic. It is that passion in combination with 11 years in the fashion industry that has motivated her to create Dirty Red Athletic Wear for Women.

Nicol’s love for design began at the age of 8. By the time Nicol was 15, she was designing and hand painting t-shirts for family and friends. To satisfy her competitive hunger, Nicol began to participate in high school cheerleading and sports. But it was the love of running that would capture her heart and a 4-year scholarship to the University of Missouri, Columbia. It was there that she would become an 8 time “All Big 8 Runner” and graduate with a degree in Apparel Manufacturing and Design.

Nicol’s collegiate track career fueled her love for running, and soon Nicol completed two marathons along with countless 5K and 10K runs. Her early design work set the pace for her professional career in the fashion industry.

Dirty Red is a brand where function, fashion and fit team up to create a great athletic product for women just like Nicol who are “on the go” with no intention of slowing down! Nicol believes that life is THE ultra marathon, and no matter how you approach it, your clothes should be able to “hang” no matter what! For more information about Dirty Red “Athletic Wear for Women” check out www.dirtyredgear.com.

When asked her thoughts about Team Women, Nicol replied, " I love my Team Women group in Solana Beach because of their energy, positive thinking and the support we share at each and every meeting!  I have also visited several other chapters and each chapter that I have visited has welcomed me with open arms. They all stand ready to help you grow your business immediately.  It’s the unity and strength of these women that keeps me coming back for more!"

"Happy are those who dream dreams and are ready to pay the price
to make them come true." - Cardinal Leo Josef Suenens

Team Women is based on building powerful relationships with other business women to create long term success for both.  Getting to know each other better fosters a closer relationship which generates more referrals.  We found on the past Team Women Cruises how much fun it is to meet and build relationships with Team Women members from other areas.

August 2008 - Palm Desert, CA:  Spa Weekend - 3 days and 2 nights at the Palm Desert Marriott.  Wonderful pool, great spa and lots of shopping nearby.  More details coming soon.

October 2008 - Mexican Riviera:  Third annual Team Women Cruise!  Stay tuned for more details.

January 16-25, 2009 Team Women Panama:  Help welcome our first International Chapter to the Team Women Family and attend the launch meeting.   10 days and nine nights, including a visit with the Panamanian First Lady!

Contact support@teamwomen.com if you would like more information about any of our exciting travel events.

Team Women Book
We're still accepting outline submissions from members!

We have received some fabulous submissions to the Team Women Book, but do we still need one from you? All Team Women members are invited to participate in our 1st Team Women book, tentatively titled, "Team Women - Successful Business Women, Supporting Women In Business."

This is an opportunity to share your expertise with the public and become a published author.  If you're interested in participating, simply create a title and outline for your proposed submission and send it to kristen@teamwomen.com.

In response to a question about why someone should become a Team Women Founding President, new Founding President of Team Women Scottsdale Jeanna Zelin wrote:

"First of all, if you have never been a part of a leads group or a serious networking organization, I highly recommend it as an essential part of your marketing plan for your business.  I have been in sales, marketing and business development for 15 years (for large corporations and for my own small business), and I can say with certainty that the majority of leads and sales that I have closed have come from leads groups and/or serious networking organizations like Team Women.

Team Women, in particular, has already helped me create awareness for my business, and we haven't even had our first meeting!  The energy, enthusiasm and commitment that Judi, Darcy and all of the staff at Team Women exhibit is truly phenomenal.  If you decide to lead up a chapter in your local area, not only will you create a fail-proof customer-base for your products and services, but you will also generate friendships for life.  And if that is not enough, you will set yourself apart as a dynamic business woman who is on the cutting-edge of leadership, growth and potential for your community."

Team Women Santa Monica new member Sylvia Shapiro had this to say in response to her welcome email from Judi:

"Thank you for your warm welcoming message.  I definitely agree with you on the fact that when I stepped into the room, I did indeed feel the positive energy and heard genuine conversation from the participants.

My first meeting was as if I walked into a room full of my long time friends I just had not seen for awhile! (You can use that one, lol) I am looking forward to making new friendships and business partners at Team Women."

Founding Chapter President Kelly Halverson sent this note to Judi after receiving her new member kit:

"WOW!! Thank you for the nice package of pens, notes, and great binder. Looks so very professional!!"

New Rancho Bernardo Chapter member Amie Butman also replied to Judi's welcome message with kind words - and added a special note to chapter president, Ginny Winkler:

"Thank you so much for welcoming me! I am so excited about the possibility of both growing my business and our chapter. It is so nice knowing that I am a part of something so great!

Ginny- You are great. I appreciate the fact that you have so graciously welcomed me."

Have a Team Women testimonial to share? Please send it to support@teamwomen.com.

Just because Team Women works together doesn't mean we can't play together too! The Team Women Seminole chapter is planning a social get-together to see the new "Sex and the City" movie when it comes out. Doing something social can be a great way to get to know each other outside of the meeting agenda and structure. The more we know about each other, the more the referrals will flow! Thanks, Founding President Kerrie Kosmitis for sharing this idea.

If you don't have a lot of time or resources, there are still some simple things you can be doing to build your chapter membership. Pick a few of these ideas and invite your other chapter members to do the same:

- Add something about your Team Women Chapter to your email signature line
- Wear your Team Women badge while running errands or at networking events
- Use Vista Print or a printer in your chapter to run a low quantity of brochures or business cards specific to your chapter. Give each member a certain number to hand out each week. (You can earn 250 business cards through this month's chapter challenge!)
- Create a "Testimonials Book" for guests to look through while waiting for the meeting to start. Place a written version of testimonials provided for members in the chapter in sheet protectors in a nice binder. (You can earn an embossed Testimonials binder through this month's chapter challenge!)

Each month I will be sharing a Business Building Block. Great buildings and businesses are built one brick at a time. This month's topic is, "Creating a Road Map for Your Business."

In the morning I leave for my first trip to Arizona and I am so excited. We have four new chapters opening there and four additional informational meetings happening and I will be there for the whole week; including being interviewed on AM Arizona Morning TV Show to promote Team Women.

Visiting eight different cities, spending the night in three different places and having everything I need for each meeting has taken a lot of time and planning. And I am ready. I even bought a new GPS to make sure I stay on track.

When was the last time you plotted out a plan or a strategy for your business? Do you have your marketing plans done for May? Do you have a projected number of appointments or transactions predicted for your business? Do you have a schedule to keep you on track every day to make sure you achieve your goals this month?

If so, great! If not, it is time to set a plan for May. Your plan does not have to be fancy or detailed. It does have to be realistic and have an outline of what you want to accomplish and how you will do it. Creating a road map for the month helps you focus on what you need to be doing instead of deciding what to do.

For May, choose one business goal you want to complete this month. It can be anything from earning a certain amount of money to setting X number of appointments to creating one new marketing piece to use in promoting your business. Then create the plan and do it! Here is an abbreviated sample from my May Calendar to give you the idea.

May 2008 – Open 5 or more new Team Women Chapters by June 1 st.

1. Attend 4 informational meetings in AZ the first week of May.

2. Follow up with at least 10 women who have expressed an interest in opening a chapter in their area.

3. Meet with a potential Founding President in the CT area when I am there the end of the month for the TW Hartford, CT kick off.

4. Contact at least five women in my database regarding opening the first chapter in a new state – New Mexico.

5. On my two TV interviews this month, mention I am looking to open more chapters across the US.

6. Send an email out to all Chapter Presidents asking for one referral of a great woman business owner they could refer to me about opening a chapter. (Wow, ladies you can hold me accountable to this one.)

You get the idea! While I was creating this plan I was getting even more excited about the goal and now have defined steps I can take to make it a reality. In April, you planted seeds and in May they are germinating and getting ready to sprout. Keep watering them and caring for them. And create a plan or a road map for May to drive you into June exactly on target.
