Q: Why do you send out meeting announcements for all new chapters across the country to everyone on your mailing list? Why not have separate, localized mailing lists for these things?

A: Our mailing list is not segregated geographically so that people in one area can share information with people in other parts of the country.  For example, you might have a friend with her own business in Hartford, CT who would benefit from networking and is not on our mailing list.  Among other marketing methods, our membership grows quite quickly via word of mouth!

While we hope you enjoy hearing from us and will share information with your contacts, you can always access chapter information for your local area at www.TeamWomen.com, so if anyone would prefer to be removed from the mailing list entirely they can opt out or request to be removed at any time.

You're Amazing, Team Women!

Ladies, you continue to amaze me.  With a record breaking 80 new members in May and 10 new chapters opened, Team Women is hot, hot, hot.

It was my pleasure to attend many kick off meetings in May from AZ to MA and CT!!!!  We already have 10 more kickoffs scheduled for June and I am "on the road again."  Two television appearances and a radio interview really helped us grow in May.

Click here for a link to one of the radio interviews I did in May with Women's Radio. Please forward the link and this ezine to someone you know who has a business that would make them a good fit for Team Women.

There are two questions I am always asked in interviews and want to answer them here for all of you.

1.  What do you enjoy best about Team Women?  My answer always is the wonderful, amazing, fabulous women I have the pleasure to meet all over the country.  What makes us so special is all of you and I feel I am so fortunate to have all of you on the TEAM!

2.  What makes you different from all of the other business networking groups?  The answer is our philosophy and what we stand for.  Our chapters are based on the abundance theory.  We connect with each other knowing there is more than enough business for all of us and the more we do for others, the more business will come back to us.  At each meeting I kick off, I describe the profile of the ideal Team Women member as a committed business woman who is interested in growing her own business by supporting other women in building their businesses.  When you join a chapter and focus on how you can referral qualified business to each of your Team members, your business will grow automatically.

As we head into summer, it is important to not let our businesses slide into the "lazy days of summer" syndrome.  Remember, most of the results we have from marketing on a daily basis shows up in 90 days.  We are marketing now for our business this fall, in the fall for the first of the new year etc.

Fast Company Magazine had an article several years ago which said in the business landscape of the world wide web, the only thing which will set us apart from others providing the same product or service is the level of customer service we provide.  On a scale of one to ten, how proactive have you been in staying in contact with clients and prospects?  Are you letting them know on a regular basis how much you appreciate their business?  Are you reaching out to them for reasons other than trying to sell them something?

For the June new member gift, we are giving a book of 20 stamps and I encourage you to write 20 personal notes in the month of June to your past customers, current customers, prospects and people with whom you would like to do business.  I know in an average day I receive over 300 emails and maybe one handwritten note every month.  When I am done with an e-mail, I delete it.  When I receive a note I keep for a while and read it several times.  I feel special when I know someone has taken the time and the effort to send a note instead of an e-mail.  If you are a current member, I encourage you to send twenty notes out also.  Prepare to be amazed at the response you receive.

June is always a busy month for everyone with kids getting out of school, graduations, vacations, weddings etc.  Remember to spend some time on you and on your business every day!

Cheers,
Judi Finneran

Jane Hynes is part owner and in charge of Marketing for Surfer Cabana. This unique garment was developed in April of 1995 to allow people to dry off and change out of wet clothing in public. Although surfers were the first to use Cabanas, the market is now much more broad. Customers wear their Cabanas around the house after showering or swimming, seniors are staying warm poolside since swimming is such a common form of exercise for this age group, and people who participate in boating, diving, snorkeling, spearfishing, camping, running, cycling, water polo, etc. are all fans of the Surfer Cabana.

Prior to her involvment with Surfer Cabana, Jane raised 4 children while working with the public in various positions including 10 years with Avis Rent a Car in New York. She was born and raised on Long Island, New York and moved to Agoura Hills, CA with her family 23 years ago. She moved to San Diego in September 2006 and settled in Chula Vista. Being new to the area, she was looking to grow her business and meet women with whom she would have a lot in common...that's when she found Team Women Chula Vista.

Jane now has a dentist, insurance agent, real estate agent, financial advisor, and all-around great group of women with many other businesses she will use - all of whom who are also sharing networking tools and opportunties with each other to take their businesses to the next level.

Jane enjoys the "great girl time" with her Team Women chapter, and how much fun she has working on her passion to create her own secure financial future.

Here's a letter from Amy Scheibel, Chapter President of Team Women Yorba Linda about an event they held to help grow their membership:

"On Friday, May 16, 2008, TeamWomen Yorba Linda held a Visitor Day. The chapter membership had been declining due to business and life changes of some members. So, our chapter decided to make a push to attract new members. We have had mixers in the past with little to no result. Our secretary and former chapter president Cindy Staples, sent an email to corporate to get some tips on how to increase membership. After some email correspondence with the Santa Clarita chapter and finding out they had success with a Visitor Day, we thought we'd try it. With only five chapter members, we each decided to take a neighboring chamber's list and work on inviting women. We created a postcard for mailing and passing out, along with an email campaign. We invited for almost a month with reminders going out the week of the event. As the day approached, our RSVP list increased and we soon found ourselves with close to 20 guests attending our Visitor Day. The best part is that three ladies signed up that day and there are still others interested in joining!

Thanks to Judi Finneran for showing us her boundless energy and for creating excitement in the room. And thanks Team Women for including our event on the website and in the Ezine monthly newsletter."

Here's an example of something you can add to your email signature line:

More than 50% of my business comes from word of mouth referrals.

Nothing happens until you decide. ... Make a decision and watch your life move forward."– Oprah Winfrey

Each month I will be sharing a Business Building Block. Great buildings and businesses are built one brick at a time. This month's topic is "Customer Care."

The new member special for June is a book of stamps to support you in staying in touch with your clients.  When I was a realtor I was successful; however I did everything the hard way.  I spent all of my time looking for new clients and spent no time taking care of the clients I had.  Finding 'new' people to do business with constantly requires 90% more time, effort and energy than taking care of the customers we have.  I know I read somewhere, "if you are not taking care of your customers someone else will be."

As a realtor, the only outreach I had with my past customers would be to send out a refrigerator calendar every new year.  I was always disappointed to get five to ten of them back each year with the dreaded note on them "moved to a new address."  When you are a realtor, that is the last thing you want to find out this way - this means they have likely sold and bought a house without you.  Ouch!  I invite you to learn from my mistake, which I have corrected by the way!

Take time to reach out to your "contacts" on a regular basis.  And vary the type of contact and the reason.  Team Women is about building a TEAM of business advocates for you and this is something your past customers and clients can do this for you as well.  However, you do need to make sure they remember who you are and how to find you so they can come back to you when they have a need for your product or service - or someone they know does!

-------------------------------------------------

By the way, last month we talked about creating a roadmap for your business. How did you do? My goals - and notes as to whether I achieved them - are below:

MAIN GOAL for May 2008 – Open 5 or more new Team Women Chapters by June 1st. - Done

Steps to take:
1. Attend 4 informational meetings in AZ the first week of May. - Done

2. Follow up with at least 10 women who have expressed an interest in opening a chapter in their area. - Contacted 5

3. Meet with a potential Founding President in the CT area when I am there the end of the month for the TW Hartford, CT kick off. - Didn't Do

4. Contact at least five women in my database regarding opening the first chapter in a new state – New Mexico. - Done - only I changed the state to Pennsylvania and have opened 4 chapters already

5. On my two TV interviews this month, mention I am looking to open more chapters across the US. - Done

6. Send an email out to all Chapter Presidents asking for one referral of a great woman business owner they could refer to me about opening a chapter. - Ooops.. Will do this month!

"Fill yourself up first and give away the overflow.  If you're empty, you have nothing to give others." - Unknown

Please make sure that Team Women always has your current personal information, such as address, email, website etc. It is very important that we can keep our records current.  Help us spread the news by forwarding this e-zine to your networking friends. Thank you for your continued support!
