Birthday Wishes to...

Marilyn Murlowski
Poway, CA
September 27

We want to honor our members on their birthdays!
E-mail the month and day to kristen@teamwomen.com

Another one of my personal business goals is to post at least twice weekly to the Team Women Blog.  This is a great way to share what is happening, marketing ideas, member success stories, etc.  I am asking each of you to hold me accountable.  If you check the Team Women blog and notice there is not a recent post, please send me an email to remind me of my committment.  I appreciate your support.

Team Women Blog

Q: Is there an incentive for recommending other members for Team Women?

A: YES! For every three women who join ANY Team Women chapter and list you on their application as "how they heard about Team Women," you are eligible for a $25 check from TWI! Just complete the "I Have Recuited" form from the Members Only section and send it in.

Q: Why does my chapter president need to know why i missed the meeting?

A: Team Women has a very clear attendance policy. Since we are a relationship based organization, it is vital to the success of your chapter and the growth of your business that you attend chapter meetings consistently. There are 4 reasons a meeting absence is considered "excused" and they are: business travel, personal travel, illness, or jury duty. All other reasons, or when the chapter president isn't notified at least 24 hours in advance, are considered "unexcused."

Part of the responsibility of Chapter Presidents is to send out a notification to any member who misses a meeting for an unexcused reason. Team Women is now tracking these, so 2nd notices from TWI will go out automatically, and a 3rd unexcused absence may lead to a cancellation of membership.

Please review the Team Women Handbook available on the website for all of the details and contact support@teamwomen.com with any questions about the policies and procedures.

Q: I had to miss one of the monthly calls (President, All Member or Team Women University.) Are the calls recorded?

A:Yes, all calls are recorded and posted to the Members Only section of the Team Women website. Members should use their email address and the randomly generated password emailed to them when they first join TW to log in to the site. On the left side of the website, you will then see links to the different types of monthly calls.

Please contact support@teamwomen.com if you have any trouble logging in.

Fall: Back into Success , Team Women!

From the time I was little I always loved the beginning of September. I loved school and was excited for the new school year to begin. Getting new school supplies was my ideal shopping trip. Although I do remember how excited I was with my new all white saddles I had for the beginning of fourth grade.

As an adult business owner the excitement has not diminished at all! It was great September 1st fell on a Monday. This was the first day of the last third of the year! For some business owners this time of year means it is the start of the holiday season and time to take off the rest of the year and start again in January.

In my third year of real estate I had a goal to sell 40 homes. On December 23rd my total stood at 37. Looking kind of impossible and yet I was not going to give up. Have I told you I can be pretty stubborn when reaching for my goals? So I went into the office for just an hour on Christmas Eve morning to tie up a few things. Sitting there in my office I got a call from some buyers about one of my listings and we set an appointment for them to see the house on the morning of December 26th at 9am. By 11am on 12/26 I had a “cash offer” and they needed to close before the end of the year for tax reasons.

By 2:00 I had an acceptance from my sellers and a cash offer they had written on another property with a coinciding closing date. The offer was accepted at 4 pm and we opened escrow on the morning of December 27 th. All three sides of this transaction closed at 5 pm on December 30th and I reached my goal of 40 sales. I do have to admit even I was kind of taken aback at this amazing string of events.

The point of this story is to share my belief the next 4 months can be the most lucrative and successful of your year. You don’t have a lot of competition since so many of them are “off for the holidays.” They have either reached their goal and are giving themselves the rest of the year off as a prize or they have not made their goals and have given up for the year. Either way they are not working.

This is your opportunity to end 2008 with a bang! One entire third of the whole year is left, even though it may seem the year is almost over. What better way to create a wonderful January 2009 than to kick it into high gear now????

Cheers,
Judi Finneran

After sharing a nomination in our last Member in the Spotlight, we inspired this email from Sandy Parker of Team Women North County Inland :

"I really think you should consider Linda Sweeny for an upcoming spotlight article.  She has been the backbone and driving force of North county Inland TW and is mainly instrumental in its growth.  She keeps us all motivated and I know she also helps out with the other TW functions.  I strongly recommend Linda for a spotlight article."

We got back to Sandy and said, "We agree!" and here is this month's spotlight article...

Linda Sweeny is the Founding President of the Team Women North County Inland Chapter in San Diego County, CA. As she describes it, Linda’s business with Wine Shop at Home is her FUN business.  When first introduced to WSAH, Linda decided it was a no-brainer – get paid to drink wine – why not!!!  She helps folks enjoy, discover, taste and shop for limited production, artisan wines in the comfort of their homes.  And her products are all available online at www.winewithus.com.

Linda is happily married to her husband Michael and they recently celebrated their 31st wedding anniversary.  They have 2 kids – well kinda – Nanny and Buddy are their adorable miniature schnauzers.  Linda truly enjoys working from her home office after having left the corporate world as a Director of Information Systems almost five years ago.

Linda also commits a portion of her time helping Judi grow Team Women in the position of Team Women’s Operation Manager.  She enjoys helping others and is an asset in helping Team Women Presidents develop as leaders and helping members make the most of their memberships!

If you or someone you know loves wine and wants to learn more about hosting a wine tasting, giving personalized labeled wine gifts, joining a wine club or joining the wine business, Linda would love to help!

Dear Judi,

Thank you so much.  I did attend a meeting of the Pont Loma Chapter this morning as a guest and felt very welcomed.   There was a sense of camaraderie among the members.  I am very excited about becoming a member of Team Women and look forward to the next meeting.

Traci Havey, Point Loma, CA Chapter

Judi,

I wanted to take a minute to thank you for coming here to Santa Clarita and having a social hour with us. it was great seeing you again and getting to know more about Team Women and the growth opportunities it has to offer.

This is the best net working group I have ever been involved with. I have for many years strongly believed in net working and with where the economy is now, it is more important than ever especially in my field. We have a great group of professional women and I have come to embrace and grow through my 2+ years with them. Some have come and gone however because of the foundation we have today I still keep in contact with most of them.

Thanks again for a job well done and the support and growth you and those behind the scenes keep bringing to us professional women.

Marcy James, Stevenson Ranch, CA Chapter

Setting Year Ending Goals!

Who ever heard of setting new goals in September? That is something you do in January, isn’t it?

Successful people and those committed to growing their business are always setting goals. I had the privilege of spending a week in Arizona at the Jack Canfield Breakthrough to Success Program. There were 400 of us from all over the world (27 countries represented) in the hottest month of the year in the desert for Pete’s sake. Not only did we pay to be there, pay for travel, hotels etc but we spent the week creating goals.

NOW is great time to set some goals for the end of the year. Pick three things you would feel great about achieving before the end of the year. I am reading the book “The 4-Hour Work Week.” You can see more about this book by clicking HERE.

I am going to share a method the author gives to ensure you meet your goals:

1. Pick one of the three goals you have chosen.

2. Write it at the top of a piece of paper.

3. Choose one step you can take now to move you closer to that goal and do it immediately.

4. Choose a second step you can take in the next 24 hours and do it by 11 am tomorrow.

5. Choose a third step you can take in the next 24 hours and do it by the following day by 11am.

6. When this is done, choose three more steps and repeat them.

Here is one of my goals and I will use the exercise above to illustrate.

Goal: I want to offer eight week fitness challenges at my office space.

1. Write the guidelines for the challenge – Finish today.

2. Get a copy of the release I need for participants to sign – will get from Beach Body by 11 am tomorrow.

3. Create a flyer to put in the window of my office – will have up by Friday morning before 11 am. (Since our office is right next door to a Weight Watchers meeting, this could really boost our attendance.)

4. On Friday, when I have the flyer up, identify my next three steps.

Now how hard does that seem? Not hard at all and I am going to do it. I always encourage someone to hold me accountable and suggest you do the same. I am asking Kristen Scott to hold me accountable. Kristen will you do that for me?

Get Goaling!!!!
